Strategic Prayer

Recently we posted a blog: What Do We Need? and shared that our top priority as a ministry is prayer. We are so grateful for all who pray regularly for the ministry. It is a great source of encouragement to all of us. God has blessed and multiplied the prayers of many faithful friends over the last 32 years! As we move forward, we want to share a few ways you can help us become even more strategic in prayer.

Pray & fast for HCO one day per month.
One way HCO can grow deeper and more intentional in prayer is to invite people to set aside one day each month to pray and fast for all aspects of the mission. If you are new to the idea of praying and fasting for a day, a great way to learn is to practice. If food fasts are not an option for you, spend the day fasting from something other than food.

We are so encouraged by the 11 people who have already committed to pray and fast for HCO one day each month. We are eagerly anticipating being able to celebrate each day of the month being covered in prayer! If you would like to join us one day each month to pray for HCO, please email us at [email protected].

Praying in Haiti.
Another way we make prayer a priority is to lead prayer-focused trips to Haiti and incorporate dedicated prayer time into other types of trips. Praying for Haiti while you are in Haiti can be a powerful and meaningful way to grow in your faith and develop a deeper prayer life. We have open dates in 2018 for prayer-focused trips, or we invite you to incorporate strategic prayer into any trip.

Outlook CC (IN) brought a team specifically focused on prayer. As they visited each church and school, the team set aside time for praying over specific needs. They used some scripture prayer cards to help guide their time and to help people overcome any worries about not knowing what to pray. It was a special blessing when Pastor Matthew was at Drouillard when they visited. The team was able to encourage him through prayer for his ministry and his congregation.

Of course, not every prayer time has to be formal and organized. Sometimes, prayer over ministry areas can happen right before breakfast or in other quiet moments on campus as God leads your day, which is what Barb and Misty did one morning.

During our recent Hazel Dell CC (IN) trip, we had the team divide up into groups of four and go with our interns to pray while they were physically in each area of our ministry. Groups prayed at the hospital, the church, in the school buildings, and in the Compressed Earth Block (CEB) area. All four groups spent time praying for our specific needs in each of those ministry areas and then rotated to the next area of ministry.

As we continue to push forward into ministry and desire to see lives transformed by the Gospel, prayer is the focus of HCO. We would love for you to join us on the journey to grow deeper in prayer!

I love this post. I would like to continue receiving your newsletter via email. Blessed be each and every soul who prays for, gives, sends, or goes to encourage all the Haitian Christians to be salt and light right where God has placed them to serve!

Thank you so much for your kindness again while my daughter and I were on the Peredo Compound at the end of February 2017.
