Heroes on the Ground in Haiti

Heroes come in many forms throughout life. A hero could be a family member, a friend, or in our case a brother or sister in Christ. At Haitian Christian Outreach, we partner with Haitian Christians to transform a culture for Christ. These Heroes on the Ground pour out their love for God by serving others. They are pastors, teachers, doctors, nurses, translators, cooks, drivers, and security guards, all serving with one purpose to Glorify God and Grow the Kingdom.

Heroes on the Ground Evangelize: Meet Pastor Jacqueline

From revivals to the evangelistic outreaches, Pastor Jacqueline Jean Baptiste has been at the forefront of many spiritual victories in Peredo, Haiti. Originally from near Cap Haitian, Pastor Jacqueline started his training with Christianville and completed his formal studies at a small Bible institute in Jacmel just over an hour away from the mission campus in Peredo. In 2012, he started pastoring Emmanuel Christian Church of Peredo and has been a bold evangelist in the community. Pastor Jacqueline and his wife have three children of which two attend Emmanuel Christian School of Peredo.

Pastor Jacqueline says: “The Gospel can change people. When people hear and accept the Gospel, it’s a blessing for the community. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation and like that, we will have a new community.”

Heroes on the Ground Equip: Meet Peredo Teacher Gue Losamene Eustache

Gue Losamene has been teaching preschool at Emmanuel Christian School of Kapotyer for nine years. Every day she teaches her students French, math, spelling, art, and poetry. She often likes to use songs to teach and share about Jesus. She is a gifted teacher and loves everything about her calling to teach and mold young minds. She has also been a member of Emmanuel Christian Church of Kapotyer for nineteen years and is thankful she is able to serve her community through teaching.

Gue Losamene says: “As a teacher, I enjoy watching the kids learn and grow in multiple ways. The kids love to sing songs to learn about Jesus. Teaching is another way to serve and I love how we are called to teach.”

Heroes on the Ground Empower: Meet HCO Translator KJ

KJ is an evangelist by nature but also gifted in speaking and translating French, English, and Creole. He has been working with Haitian Christian Outreach’s short-term teams, doctors, mobile clinics, and in our Emmanuel Christian Schools for over two years. After graduating Bible College in Saint Vincent and Grenadines, he asked the Lord to use him to do His will, no matter where that would take him. The Lord has taken KJ on a great adventure not only as a translator but also doing Bible clubs with young children, teaching older students how to prepare sermons, and bringing young people with him to visit the elderly and sick. He pastors a church in the mountains where he preaches and holds frequent Bible studies, and has a large youth ministry. KJ leads by example through his compassion and devotion to Christ.

KJ says: “It is a privilege for me to work in the community. I always make sure that the ones we are reaching are satisfied from the services we are rendered to them. Making sure that their souls are edified and share to the lost ones the love of God for them.”

Heroes on the Ground Encourage: Meet Nurse Michaëlle Thomas

Peredo Community Hospital has been a source of hope, healing, and comfort for almost ten years in the southern region of Haiti. This is only made possible through the wonderful staff of doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, and administrators at PCH. Nurse Michaëlle Thomas is one of those helping bring hope, healing, and comfort. She came to PCH because she kept hearing about the quality treatment and services at the hospital and had to find out more information. Now almost three years later she has been working as a nurse where she is the one delivering that same quality care she heard so much about.

Michaëlle says: “The greatest thing about being a nurse at Peredo Community Hospital is when you see patients leave the hospital in good health. A lot of times, they go out and testify about how good their services are, and then come back and thank the staff for changing their lives and helping them find good health.”

Our Heroes on the Ground make a tremendous impact in the work God is doing through Haitian Christian Outreach. It is through these Heroes that the Kingdom grows and lives are changed. In honor of our Heroes on the Ground, we invite you to join us on November 30th for #GivingTuesday, an international day of giving created to bring awareness and support that helps fund the mission of ministries like Haitian Christian Outreach.

On November 30th you can help make a difference by supporting our Heroes on the Ground! Your gift will allow these men and women to continue pouring into their communities in the Name of Jesus. Every dollar given will go toward supporting these heroes who sacrifice each day in Haiti and to the projects that equip them to serve. Through your generosity you will be making a difference not only in their lives but also in the Kingdom work that God has called them to.

We are also excited to announce that your gift will be DOUBLED thanks to a generous donor! All gifts up to $25,000 given on November 30th will be doubled. Our goal is to raise a total of $50,000 to help support our Heroes on the Ground and the projects that equip them to serve. Together we can do something in Haiti that will last.
