Hope in Jesus

Followers of Christ in Haiti gathered together in worship on July 12th for the first time since March. It was a day full of joy, excitement, and Hope! At Emmanuel Christian Church in Port-au-Prince, RoRo preached a celebration sermon from Psalm 91 reminding those in attendance that there is Hope in Jesus.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.’ You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:1-2,5-6,9-11)

Pastors and church leaders have been reaching out to their congregations and communities over the last few months via social media outlets like WhatsApp and Facebook. We are grateful for these techniques, which allow for ministry to continue in crisis situations. However, there’s nothing quite like coming together, in-person, to worship our Savior!

“Everyone was happy to be back to church since they weren’t able to come and worship in the building.”  -RoRo

As the world continues to work through the pandemic, we know there will be challenges. We are grateful we have a God who is our refuge and fortress. Therefore, we will celebrate the small victories, like coming together in worship, and put our Hope in Jesus.
