Medical Staff Transitions

Just as the physical structure of Peredo Community Hospital has been growing and changing, so too is our medical team, both in Haiti and the States. We are excited about how God is building an great group of medical providers to meet needs and provide excellent health care.

Since the very beginning of Peredo Community Hospital in December 2012, the very wise and respected Dr. Raymond Gay has been our Medical Director. Dr. Gay helped lead the staff through multiple changes over the years as the work grew and the hospital implemented 24/7 birthing and emergency services. He has provided compassionate care to countless patients, as well, especially to children as a pediatrician. His contribution to the health care outreach of Haitian Christian Outreach over the past six years has been tremendous. We are grateful, and we say, “Thank you, Dr. Gay!”

Earlier this year, Dr. Gay let us know – at 78 years young – that he was ready to retire at the end of May. Over the last few months, RoRo has been seeking the right doctor to become our new Medical Director, and we are pleased to introduce you to Drs. Frank and Janet Jardines. God, in His generous kindness, has provided not one but two doctors!

Dr. Frank is an OB/GYN and will also serve as our Medical Director. His wife, Dr. Janet, is a pediatrician. They will both be joining our team this summer. Originally from Cuba, they moved to Haiti in 2014 and had served in Haiti on many trips before that to assist in the earthquake relief efforts. Dr. Frank speaks Spanish, Italian, French, Creole and English. We are also excited that Dr. Frank is a trained OB/GYN surgeon and will be able to utilize the new surgical suites at PCH!

As we have increased the number of medical teams/medical outreaches in the past year and are moving toward the opening of the new surgical center, the need for additional help in the US has grown. God has provided for us as Megan Schreiber joined our team as part-time/volunteer Health Care Coordinator this May.

Megan will be a valuable team member as a liaison with our medical teams in preparing them for the medical aspect of the trips. She will also assist Cameron with procuring medical equipment and shipping, and interacting with our healthcare partners like International Aid, Chosen International Medical Assistance, WorldWide Lab, and others. Megan and Cameron will co-lead a medical team from Campbell University this fall. And she plans to lead our first surgical team in 2019!

With a Bachelors in Communicating in Healthcare Administration, Megan has played active involvement in health care administration for the past 17 years. Megan’s most current role is the Administrator of Northpointe Surgical Suites in Zanesville, Ohio. Her first trip to Haiti was in January 2009 and in the last 8 years, she has been part of numerous medical missions to various parts of Haiti.

Megan and her husband of 9 years, Mike, are the parents of two lovely girls, Kyler and Risen and live in the small town of Zanesville. They are involved in their community through serving their church, North Terrace, teaching and coaching. Welcome, Megan!

Sounds like some very good choices! Praising God for HIS provision of medical professionals who will most certainly be a glory to God if they follow His leading each day — and be a blessing to those in the Peredo area!
