The Light Project

At night, it gets pretty dark in Haiti. Most Haitian homes do not have electricity. And that makes it hard to do homework.

After a day at school and a long afternoon of chores, some students just don’t do their homework because it’s too dark. Some go the extra mile. On any given evening in Peredo, you’ll find some of our school children huddled underneath the few solar light poles along the road. These give just enough light they can see to do their work.

We want to help change that. We hope you will too.

The Light Project
In February, RoRo assembled our Peredo 6th grade class one day after school and explained The Light Project. He asked them to come back to campus at dusk that night to receive their very own inflatable, solar light.

These lights can be set out in the sun to store energy during the day. At night, they can be turned on to illuminate their homes. Each light comes with a hook so it can be hung up, or it can sit on a table when inflated.

Our goal is to provide one light for each Every Child student in our Emmanuel Christian Schools. We will need your help and your generosity to make this happen! For $15 you can provide a light to a student.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
