Tropical Storm Relief – Haiti 2020

Tropical Storm Laura hit the coast of Haiti on Saturday, August 22nd bringing with it heavy wind and significant rainfall causing flooding, mudslides, and storm surge. RoRo was on our main campus in Peredo to access the damage and begin planning for repairs.

The riverbed to the campus is just a huge hole from where all the water rushed through. There was water rushing over the bridge to Jacmel. I have never seen so much water in the yard of the campus. All the banana trees are laid down or uprooted. The water in the yard behind the apartment was up above the playhouse.” -RoRo

We praise God for his protection during the storm!

Peredo Community Hospital remained open after the storm came through, however, with the road to campus being washed out and covered in debris, it is currently very difficult for patients to get to the hospital. RoRo has contacted the construction company who worked on the road earlier this year to come and repair the road as soon as possible.

Along with the road leading to campus needing repair, the school, church, and hospital all have water damage. The wall surrounding the campus also has damage. We are also saddened to learn farmers in Seguin as well as Grand Bois lost all their crops.

We know many farmers, families, and members of the community also need help in repairing damage to their crops, homes, and roads. That is why we have set up a Tropical Storm Relief Fund. This disaster relief fund will allow us to rebuild and repair in the Name of Jesus. It is crucial that patients have access to health care. Our churches and schools need to be dry so our families can worship and our students can learn. Farmers survive from a successful crop and so we must help replant and rebuild what was lost. There is much work to be done and we cannot do it without your partnership. We can’t wait to see how God works through this storm! Thank you for partnering with us to continue in ministry.
