New Leadership at HCO

RoRo and the Board of Directors are very happy to announce that Megan Schreiber, our current Director of Medical Partnerships, is the new US Director for Haitian Christian Outreach.

Haiti changed Megan and her husband Mike for the first time in January 2009. Over the past 10 years, they have served together in Haiti through over 14 different short-term trips. In February 2015, Mike first came to serve in Peredo, which planted the seeds of passion for HCO in their family that God has grown greatly in the past four years. As God was building an HCO team in the US, Megan first joined us in a part-time volunteer role, helping assist with medical teams, equipment procurement, and health care partners. She served on an HCO medical team in 2018, and then led a medical team that fall. She did all of this as she was also working full-time as the Administrator of Northpointe Surgical Suites in Zanesville, Ohio.

As her involvement and passion for HCO grew, Megan and Mike stepped out with bold faith and a clear calling for Megan to leave her full-time job in December 2018 to be able to volunteer full-time with HCO. We were all inspired by her faith and commitment to this ministry! In January of this year, Megan traveled to Haiti to support Mike as he ran the Port-to-Coast Ultra 50-mile Race to raise funds and awareness for HCO’s Emmanuel Christian Schools. In March, Megan led a team of biomedical techs to prepare the hospital equipment for the opening of the Surgical Center.

In April, we were excited for Megan to lead the very first surgical team to Peredo Community Hospital. She had already been very instrumental in raising needed funds to secure the digital X-ray for PCH.

Megan is Haiti this week, leading another surgical team. She will lead a medical team later this summer and is actively recruiting medical professionals for a fall trip (her 6th trip with us this year). Megan’s energy, passion, and enthusiasm for leading teams and ministry is a great encouragement to RoRo, Eline, the board, and everyone at HCO. Her sacrifice as a highly committed volunteer has meant so much to all of us, and we look forward to how God will use her as the new US Director!

With her degree and 17 years of career experience in Healthcare Administration, Megan also brings a clear calling and a God-given passion for all of the work He is doing through Haitian Christian Outreach. Through her many trips to Peredo, she has worked closely with RoRo, Eline, the PCH staff, and many short-term team participants in all areas of HCO’s ministry. She is passionate about church planting, educating children, transforming communities through development projects, and, of course, health care. She and Cameron have worked closely on many projects over the past several months, and they will complete the transition in mid-July. Megan has RoRo and Cameron’s full endorsement. They are thrilled God has chosen her as the new US Director!

Personally, Megan is regularly in the Word, seeking wisdom and growing in her faith. She, Mike, and their two daughters are active members of North Terrace Church of Christ (Zanesville, OH) where HCO Board Member, Chris Steele, serves as Lead Pastor. And, she has a contagious enthusiasm for doing something for Haiti that will last, in partnership with all of you! Please join us in welcoming Megan, praying for her, and doing all you can to encourage her as she becomes the US Director!

The HCO US office will remain in Kokomo, IN (PO Box 6355, Kokomo, IN 46904) with the same main office number: 217-778-6950. You can reach Megan via email or at 765-461-5340 (beginning July 13).

New Communications & Team Leadership
God has brought together a great team of people to lead HCO into the future in teams and communications. All of these wonderful ladies are already serving with HCO part-time and have been working with Jennifer throughout this transition. We are confident they will do a tremendous job serving in their new areas of responsibility. Please join us in praying for them and encouraging them in their work!

Abby Glasser, our Development Assistant, will be adding Jennifer’s roles with communications to her work with donor development. Abby will be doing all of our print and electronic communications, designing and writing, as well as posting blogs and social media, keeping our website updated, and sending out eStories. Teams can support Abby by sending her their team photos and testimonies.

Larissa Blevins will move to become our Team & Sponsorship Coordinator, adding teams to the child sponsorship work she has been doing this year. Larissa will guide team leaders through all of their preparations, sending leader emails, managing our team calendars, and coordinating things with our team in Haiti. Team leaders can welcome her via email. She would love to get all short-term team members connected with their very own sponsored child!

Becky Liscombe, our Administrative Assistant, will be working closely with Larissa to process all team applications and payments. She will also be shipping Team Gear to all of our leaders. Becky will continue to handle all team insurance in addition to her other US office duties. You can welcome Becky to this role and contact her with any questions regarding payments or applications.

Marcus & Arin Corn Update
From the beginning of our relationship with Marcus and Arin Corn, neither of us knew how long God planned to have us serving together. Recently, Marcus and Arin shared with us that they felt the Holy Spirit was guiding them to complete their service with HCO and return to the US. They returned to the States on June 17, 2019, and are exploring God’s next steps for their lives and ministry in Indiana. We will always be grateful for their service and for the many sacrifices they have made as a family! Please join us in thanking them and praying for them as they transition back to the States!

Prayer & Next Steps
Grateful for what God has already done in this ministry and for all who have served in the past, we are confident He has built a great team to move Haitian Christian Outreach into the future! Please join us in continuing to pray for God to grant us wisdom and favor as we continue to do something for Haiti that will last!
