Rete Lakay
Haïti is facing a difficult time like many other countries in the world with the coronavirus. But here, it is even worse when you already know the precarious situation of our healthcare system. As of yesterday (April 7th, 2020), the Ministry of Health and Population (MSPP) had announced that twenty-one cases of the Coronavirus have been discovered and tested positive. Those people were transferred to a hospital outside of Port au Prince where they are being cared for as best we can.
Since last weekend the country has been on the “locked up” mode. We have all been told not to come out of our homes. As you may know, this is difficult for most considering many travel to the market for work and goods each day. The Prime Minister has closed all communication with the outside world. All ports, air, sea, and land are closed, except for extreme emergencies. Schools, churches and public assemblies are also closed. Last Sunday some defiant pastors, who opened their churches for worship, were arrested and put to jail.
So, all the Emmanuel Christian schools and churches have been closed. Last Sunday, through a well known and widely used app called, WhatsApp, we were able to record and send a message of encouragement to the pastors and members of our churches. First to reassure them of the Promises of God in Psalm 91 and second that God is still in control from His Throne. I also encouraged them to apply all the sanitary advice given by the government, especially to “Rete Lakay” or Stay at Home!
We ask that you continue to pray for our teachers and hospital staff as the country is embracing for the worst to come, according to the health experts, with limited resources. JoJo, Grace, Eline, and I thank you for your continued prayers and continued financial support. May the Lord cover you and protect you from the Coronavirus with His amazing power.
“If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways…” Psalm 91:9-11

I continue to pray for all of our HCO people in USA and Haiti. For the hospital, Rx, churches and leaders, my brothers and sisters in Christ, Haiti’s leaders, students and teachers and for our interns that they will be supported in prayer and finances, that they will be able to go and come back healthy.
