Belle Anse Church: Construction & Revival #2
It’s been almost one year since the revival and the birth of Emmanuel Christian Church of Belle Anse, Haiti. We documented the realization of RoRo’s 30-year dream for reaching Belle Anse with the Gospel in our The Dream Came True blog last October. RoRo’s passion and heart for evangelism and the people of Haiti, especially the community of Belle Anse, is unwavering.
Almost immediately after the revival, HCO purchased almost an acre of ground near the center of Belle Anse for $10,000 and started planning the construction of the church building. Designs and cost estimates were completed in early December with the hope that construction would begin shortly after the beginning of this year. Through the first part of the year, the construction team built a perimeter wall, an underground cistern with an office above it, and latrines. Then foundation work began.
This summer, RoRo, our interns, and several teams visited the church site regularly to check on the construction progress, host a medical outreach, pray over the church and town, as well as prepare for a mini-revival in early August. One of HCO’s church partners, Parkview CC (OH), came to Haiti in early August to help with the construction of the foundation and the mini-revival.
The group encouraged the people of Belle Anse and the church members in many different ways! The first night of the revival included a short worship set, and then we showed the Jesus Film. The second night featured US Director, Cameron Mayhill, sharing his testimony, and Pastor Brian White preached the Word of God from Jeremiah 29:11. The final night was our largest turnout and featured a Belle Anse-born pastor who had come to share the Gospel with his hometown.
On Friday night, one man came forward to accept Jesus because his testimony is similar to that of Cameron’s journey. On Sunday morning, he joined the church services in Belle Anse. In all, over 800 people attended the revival on different evenings, and the community was encouraged by the Word of God.
God is doing something for Haiti that will last in Belle Anse, Haiti! Please continue to pray for the church and the church construction!
