Community Development – Building Stronger Communities in Haiti

At Haitian Christian Outreach, community development is about more than projects — it’s about people. It’s about coming alongside families, leaders, and entire villages to create sustainable change that transforms lives for generations.

From digging wells for clean water to supporting local initiatives that provide income and stability, we’re focused on empowering Haitians to strengthen their communities economically. This work is part of a holistic approach to meeting both the spiritual and physical needs, and we’re thankful for the faithful partners who make it possible.

One of the most humbling projects we’ve been part of is bringing clean water to the small, hard-to-access village of Anse a Beouf. Today, this community not only has clean water to drink, but they’re also hearing about the Living Water that brings eternal hope.

In addition to long-term community development projects, HCO is actively responding to immediate needs through our food distribution and disaster relief programs. From families in communities we serve to inmates in prison, our initiatives ensure that no one is forgotten. Distribution of rice, beans, oil, and other essentials provides nourishment and dignity to those most affected by hunger and instability.

When natural disasters strike or hardships deepen, our disaster relief program allows us to respond quickly — delivering emergency supplies and offering comfort and care through local churches. These moments of crisis become powerful opportunities to share the love of Christ in action.

We also focus on economic empowerment and supporting local farmers. By providing Haitian farmers with access to essential supplies, tools, and markets, we enable them to grow their businesses sustainably. Supporting local agriculture allows families to earn a living, strengthen their communities, and contribute to greater food security across the country.

Whether it’s clean water or a warm meal, every act of service is rooted in the same purpose: to do something in Haiti that will last.

In honor of Haitian Christian Outreach celebrating 40 years of ministry, YOU can make a lasting impact. Prayerfully consider giving your best gift to continue the legacy of doing something in Haiti that will last!
