HealthCare

One Patient. One Need. One Story of Hope.

What if the right medical care had not been available when Moise needed it most?

Following the devastating earthquake in Les Caye, Moise faced another life-changing crisis. A serious accident had left his leg severely injured, and his condition was growing more critical by the day. Without proper medical care, he risked losing his leg. But just when things seemed uncertain, Moise made his way to Peredo Community Hospital. What happened next would change everything.

A Hospital. A Doctor. A Second Chance.

At Peredo Community Hospital, Moise found a team ready to care for him.

And one of the doctors who stepped in was someone especially familiar to HCO—our own board member, Dr. Allen.

Dr. Allen performed the life-saving surgery Moise desperately needed.

The surgery gave Moise a chance.

A chance to keep his leg.

A chance to recover.

A chance to move forward.

And today?

Moise is living a great life.

His story is one of the reasons Peredo Community Hospital exists.

But there is something important about Moise’s story that we don’t want to overlook.

His care required more than a doctor’s visit.

It required a hospital equipped to care for him, a skilled medical team, surgery, and the resources to support him throughout his recovery. Because healthcare is about more than treating an injury; it’s about having the tools, and support in place to give someone a chance to heal.

The Doctors Are There. But There Is Still a Need.

Every day, Haitian doctors and nurses work tirelessly to care for and serve patients at Peredo Community Hospital. They are examining patients, treating illnesses and injuries, performing procedures and surgeries and caring for people from their own communities.

We are incredibly grateful for their skill, dedication, and commitment to the people they serve.

But even the most dedicated medical team needs the right resources to provide effective care.

Patients also need access to medication, and medication remains a significant need at Peredo Community Hospital.

Think about what that means. A patient can finally see a doctor. They can finally receive an answer about what is wrong. They can receive a treatment plan. But what happens if they don’t have access to the medicine they need to follow that plan? The doctor’s visit is important.

But the care cannot stop there.

This Is Where You Come In

Moise’s story happened because people were willing to step in when he needed help. Someone cared enough to bring him to the hospital. A doctor cared enough to perform the surgery. A medical team cared for him through a critical moment. And today, Moise is living a great life.

There are still people walking through the doors of Peredo Community Hospital who need that same kind of care. They may not need a life-saving surgery as Moise did. They may simply need medication. But to that patient, “simply” doesn’t mean small. When you are sick, the medicine you need is important. When you are trying to recover, access to that medicine matters.

And when someone is already struggling financially, the ability to receive needed medication can make a tremendous difference.

One Patient. One Need. One Story of Hope.

Moise is one patient. But he represents so many others.

People who walk into Peredo Community Hospital looking for help.

People who need a doctor.

People who need a nurse.

People who need treatment.

And people who need medication.

Behind every patient is a person.

And behind every person is a story.

That is why our 2026 Giving Tuesday campaign is called:

Hope & Healing: Because Every Life Matters

This Giving Tuesday, we are asking our HCO family to help provide essential medications for patients at Peredo Community Hospital, as well as food for families, students, churches, and prisoners across the communities we serve.

We want to help our Haitian medical team continue doing what they do so faithfully—caring for people.

Because sometimes hope looks like a life-saving surgery.

Sometimes it looks like a doctor who refuses to give up on a patient.

And sometimes, hope looks like having the medication you need when you leave the hospital.

Your Gift Can Help Make That Possible.

Moise’s story has a happy ending. Today, he is living a great life. We want to see more stories like his. Not because every patient will have the same story. But because every patient deserves the opportunity to receive the care they need.

This Giving Tuesday, you can help bring Hope & Healing to patients across Haiti.

Help provide essential medications.

Help support compassionate healthcare.

Help remind someone that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.
