Emmanuel Christian School of Seguin
If you look off to the north of Peredo as you bump along the muddy, rocky road up the mountain, you will see the magnificent colors of the Emmanuel Christian School of Seguin! The bright colors of the buildings are a wonderfully stark contrast to the rocky farmland surroundings. One of the older Haitian Christian Outreach schools, the school in Seguin has produced some great leaders for their church, community, and area.
The community of Seguin is a wonderful agricultural area in which most of the families are farmers. They primarily farm carrots, cabbage, broccoli, potatoes, corn, squash, beans, and coffee. At any one time, you will see ladies from the community working the fields or carrying their produce to market. The school has PreK – 6th grade and many of the students who finish 6th-grade head off to live with family in Jacmel to finish secondary school. Our principal and staff are very dedicated to teaching students Biblical principals as well as great academics.
Joél, who grew up in Seguin, has been teaching at the school for 4 years. He teaches 3rd-grade science and says his favorite thing about being a teacher is working with the kids. Joél, like many teachers and staff, walks a great distance to get to the school each day. But he knows his students depend on him and he is happy to serve the community in which he grew up.
HCO is able to operate Emmanuel Christian School of Seguin and our other 5 schools, providing education and Bible classes to these students because of the support we receive from our child sponsors. We serve nearly 2,000 students within our 6 schools and only 460 of those children currently have a sponsor. Sponsors are needed to help ensure we can continue to educate, equip, empower, and encourage these precious children. If you’d like more information on becoming a child sponsor visit our website or contact Larissa Blevins, Child Sponsorship Coordinator for Haitian Christian Outreach.

Thank you very much for the pictures of the Emmanuel Christian School at Sequin. I pray daily for the teachers and students as well as HCO. God bless you all. I support 5 students, am a retired teacher still subbing in public schools in the U.S. and know how important a teacher’s role is in not only the academic life but also the social life and spiritual life of each student. Let us know if there is more we can do.
